FAVORITE QUOTES FOR INTROVERTS
All my favorite quotes. Scroll through them and see which ones resonate with you.
"How to come together, unleash our power, and change the game"
My favorite quote by far. This is what I had in mind when I started Wanderful Academy. I want a community of introverted business women who cheer for each other. Who want to be part of a wolfpack and change the game. Because, like the quote says, we are stronger together.
"Why fit in when you are born to STAND OUT"
For some reason, we all try to fit in with 'the group'. Is that because we get to hear that from everybody around us when we grow up? Or do we notice that when we're not acting like the norm we get bullied and ridiculed? Why do people think that you have to fit in instead of being your awesome self? So, let people be their own awesome selves. Applaud people who dare to stand out!
“Trust the timing of your life”
I believe that everything happens for a reason. The people that come into your life, the business opportunities that present themselves, or the not so nice things about life. So trust the timing. Don’t think: I should be… You’re at the right place in your life. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you have to undergo something without you having control. You always have the power to choose how you deal with a situation.
“Make yourself a priority”
Nothing is more important than you. Your well-being and happiness. Don’t just exist. Get everything out of the life you have.
“It will never be perfect. Make it work.”
Nothing is perfect and it never will be. I was a hardcore perfectionist. Although I doubt that that ever really goes away. I’ll always keep this trait in me. But I’m so glad I can let go now and live in the now. Not thinking about the what if…
“It always seems impossible until it's done”
I used to think that it was not possible for me to have my own business. Or maybe I was listening too much to other people who told me it was impossible for me. But you guessed it: I have my own business. So, not that impossible.
“If your dreams don't scare you, they are too small”
“Every day. You have the power to choose”
Maybe you feel like you’re in a hopeless situation. You want something but you don’t know how to make it a reality. You dream of a better life, but can’t see how you can make that happen. Just know that you can choose every day how you handle the situation you’re in. Even if it seems hard. You can choose to change nothing or you can choose to ask for help.
George Bernard Shaw
"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."
People talk about finding themselves. They go on a trip to do this. I always thought this was true. Once you found yourself, life would be great. But the older I get, the more I believe in the second part of this quote. Life is about creating yourself. We all have the power to do this. I made the choice to start living again, to start my own business, to step outside my comfort zone. The life I'm living now is created by myself. How awesome is that!
"Selectively, but wildly excitable."
Make sure your life is selectively but wildly excitable. Choose the things you want to do with all your heart. Don't just let things happen to you. Sure there are always things that just happen, but you always have a choice of how you deal with that.
"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you."
I also love to learn new things. Things I can use in my company but more importantly learning from people I admire. No one can take away everything I learned to grow as a person.
“Writing is something you do alone. It’s a profession for introverts who want to tell you a story but don’t want to make eye contact while doing it.”
"I'm working on myself, for myself, by myself"
Working on yourself is not a bad and dirty thing. It's the best thing you can ever do. You’re not meant to stand still. You’re not a tree. Also, don’t work on yourself because people say you have to. Only do it for yourself. You're the only awesome you.
"There are no regrets in life, just lessons"
I used to regret things I've done or haven't done, but I found out that it doesn't really help to regret things. It doesn't help me at all. Should I have started earlier with my own business? Maybe, but I wasn't ready for it at that moment. And I learned so much from every job I had. Do I regret the things I did that led to my burnout? No, because I learned so much about myself during my burnout. Everything you do gives you a lesson and brings you closer to yourself and makes your life more awesome.
"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain"
“Stay true to your own nature.”
"The first step is you have to say you can."
Did you always wanted to have your own business but you keep hearing from people around you that you need a steady job. Most of the time you will follow their 'advice', right? So you really have to give yourself permission to do the thing you love. It could be the business you want, the job promotion, the dream vacation, or your dream home. All these things have the same thing in common: fear. So, to battle, this fear, just say you can!
"Don't compare yourself to others. If you do so, you are insulting yourself."
She is so right about this. You're an incredible human being, so why compare yourself to others? I know it’s hard because with all the (social) media you only see people who are rocking life. The problem is; they only show you their best days. So look at where you are and what you already have. In your business or in your life. Pretty amazing, right?
"You're not meant to do what is easy. You're meant to challenge yourself."
Step out of your comfort zone. Staying in it isn't living. It's existing and that's such a shame. Do something that frightens you once in a while. Challenge yourself to grow as a person.
"Ever loved someone so much, you would do anything for them? Yeah, well, make that someone yourself and do whatever the hell you want."
You are the most important person in your life. Nobody else! So choose you and do what you love to do.
"If you're serious about changing your life, you'll find a way. If you're not, you'll find an excuse."
This changed my life. Just like a lot of other people I was a champion in finding excuses why I still existed instead of living the life I want to live. It's so much easier to stay in your comfort zone and stay a 'victim'. Because when you make life-changing decisions there are always people saying: are you sure you want to do this. It's a big risk. And I'm not even talking about your biggest critic. That voice in your head. Because yes, it's scary to change something, it's out of your comfort zone, and yes maybe it doesn't completely work out the way you want it to. But what if it does work? What if you're going to live this awesome life, the life you always wanted? So, I say: Go for it!
"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending"
You have the power to change the situation you're in. You can decide to change lanes in your own life and just go right. Just because you made a decision in the past, that doesn't mean you can't change your mind now. Don't regret the decision you made but think about all the things you learned from it.
"You are loved. Massively. Ferociously. Unconditionally. The universe is totally freaking about how awesome you are"
This quote is from the book that totally changed my life. This book taught me that the universe has the best intentions for us. She offers us so many opportunities to change our lives for the better. Don't be afraid of these changes because only good things will come. See them, grab them, and start living your awesome life.
"You can't be afraid of what people are going to say because you're never going to make everybody happy."
People always have opinions and no they're not always nice. So stop listening to people who are pulling you down. They are jealous and not worth your time.
"Quiet people have the loudest minds."
Although I have never read a book by him I love this quote. Yes, I'm also one of those quiet people. Sometimes it's super annoying that my mind never stops. But most of the time I come up with the greatest ideas. At least I think I do, haha. I don't have to let the world know how great they are until it's no longer just an idea.
"A healthy desire for wealth is not greed, it's a desire for life."
A lot of people have a strange relationship with money. You have all these rules about money in the back of your mind. Rules you learned when you were younger. But all those rules are not very healthy. One of these rules a lot of people have is that you aren't allowed to want money because that is greedy. But guess what: there is enough money for everybody. You're not stealing this money from somebody else. Stop having an unhealthy relationship with money!
"I'm not weird. I'm limited edition."
Do you sometimes have the feeling that people think you're weird? I do, but I always remember this quote and think: yeah, I'm the only me there is.
"It's a new dawn. It's a new day and I'm feeling good."
"The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
"Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?"
This is my favorite quote from my favorite tv show of all time.
"I just wanna go on more adventures. Be around good energy. Connect with people. Learn new things. Grow."
Martin Luther King
"You don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step."
The unknown is always scary. That's why most people stay in their comfort zone. But without taking the first step, you won't see what awesome things you can do.
"I believe in the joyous power of an unscheduled dance break."
"Expectation is the root of all heartache."
This is the PG version of the one I heard from my coach when I started my business. Tell people what you want or what you're going to do because they're not mind readers. So they don't have expectations you can't or don't want to live up to.
"You can't spell awesome without me."
"Don’t believe everything you think"
I live in my head. Do you also have that? My mind keeps going all the time. It can be a strength but it also can be a downfall. You keep replaying the negative feedback you got. Or you overthink the conversation you have to have tomorrow. You make it way bigger than it really is. So, don’t believe everything you think. I know it’s hard. I read affirmations out loud. This really helps me to overwrite the negative thoughts in my head.
“You’re not selfish for wanting to be treated well”
This is the case for people you have to deal with in your business as well as people you meet in your personal life. A client that wants everything but doesn’t want to pay for it. A friend that asks you to do something that you’re not comfortable with. So, keep this in mind when there is a client or friend that crosses all your boundaries.
"No one is you and that is your superpower"
We are all put on this earth to be ourselves. We are unique and, yes, that is your superpower.
"The worst I can be is the same as everybody else"
We are not supposed to be like everybody else. How boring would that be. Show your uniqueness!
"You draw your own box"
She means that you create the identity you want for yourself. Nobody else has that right. It's your life and you decide how you show yourself to the rest of the world. Is it hard? Yes, of course, it is. But try to do this, because you are the only you.
"Be the energy you want to attract"
I believe that what you send into the universe is coming back to you. So, the higher the energy you put out into the world the better the things are going to be. You can do this by writing down and saying affirmations, writing down what your top 5 goals are every day, by being kind to yourself, and by being present. I learned this from the best coach and all-around awesome person, Laura DiBenedetto.
